I was born in Nibelheim and lucky, I felt, to be the neighbor of Tifa Lockhart. I never knew my father because he died when I was very young, so my mother raised me. I grew up lonely. I was never accepted by the other kids. I decided to join SOLDIER hoping to become a hero like the great Sephiroth.
Joining SOLDIER was my dream, but... getting there was a lot more difficult then I had imagined. I became a Shinra Infantryman planning to become part of SOLDIER. Around that time I met Zack Fair a SOLDIER 1st Class member, with the dream of becoming a hero.... I remember thinking that if anyone could do it he could. He became my best friend, always looking out for me.
Nibelheim... my hometown and...our last mission. It started out promising, I don't know what happened in that reactor, but Sephiroth was different after that, he locked himself away from everyone, poring over countless text trying to find out...something. On the 7th day he went mad. He raised Nibelheim to the ground calling himself the "Chosen One'' it's hard to describe the hurt and betrayal that I felt...how could he do this he was a hero?! Zack confronted him, but was unable to defeat him so....I took up Zack's sword and ran Sephiroth through, but one blow wasn't enough. I was able to defeat him, sending him into the Lifestream, but not before he had fatally wounded me.....all I could do was think of Tifa and wonder if she would survive the horrible blow that Sephrioth dealt her. Above all else I had to save her, I had to keep my promise. I staggered out of the room in which they were keeping Jenova. I must have passed out because the next thing I remember is waking up inside a large glass tube filled with mako. I noticed Zack in another tube next to me. What.....happened?
4 years later , we formed a plan of escape, I didn't tell him that I was sick and couldn't even move....I didn't want him to leave me behind. I wish now that he had. He carried me, leaving me never entered his mind and it was because of me that he never made it to Midgar. It was my fault. He told me that I was his living legacy. With his sword in my hands I swore to live out both our lives.
I made my way to Midgar where I ran into Tifa. I am now part of the anti-Shinra terrorist group AVALANCHE. It's a job or... at least it was until I discovered that Sephiroth wasn't dead. Now the whole thing has become personal......I will make him pay for what he did and.....if destroying him means saving the planet then so be it.
