There is a bright star on the horizon of Journalism and Mass Communications; Chevas Samuels, a (Junior) Broadcast student at Arizona State Universitys Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in Phoenix, AZ, considers herself a departure from the traditional style of news reporting.
Im a mix of old school and new school news reporting. Im an ally for the underdog, a confidant for viewers and a friend for the online generation, says Miss Samuels.
You dont buy or pay for real news. Removing logical fallacies from our news and allowing readers decide for themselves through factual and honest news reporting is my goal.
Miss Samuels, also a student at Barrett, the Honors College and studying for a combined BA/MA degree. She is a member of the Association of Multicultural Journalists as well as a Maroon & Gold Scholar.
Miss Samuels has studied abroad since 2008, attending classes and lectures on Art History and Psychology of Religion in Prague, Budapest and Vienna and plans to study abroad in summer 2010 in London, Dublin and Edinburgh.
She is currently researching and preparing to present a defense for her Honors Thesis in fall 2010.
Miss Samuels served as a Reporter/Intern for College Times Magazine for the spring 2009 semester.
Currently, Samuels is the Senior Editor for MoeHeat Magazine, an industry insider publication that focuses on linking new and undiscovered talent to entertainment executives. Samuels also reports for Arizona State Universitys 1130AM-The Blaze.
Miss Samuels seeks to one day serve as a producer for CNN News, Host/Producer of her own TV Show, and as a White House Press Secretary. She lists among her heroes, media giant Oprah Winfrey and news pioneers Ed Bradley, Peter Jennings and Walter Cronkite.
