World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. It is an activity of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance.
The theme for World Day 2010, which takes place on 9 October, is "Sharing the care". This channel will highlight the voices of those around the world affected by life-limiting illness.
We will also highlight videos of events that have taken place for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
It is estimated that only 7% of people who need palliative care can access it. One of the major barriers is a lack of understanding about what hospice and palliative care is and how it can benefit people.
