A great scene between two great actresses. But I just saw this movie and I think she is not the real Anastasia. The old Empress wants to believe that she is, but at the end of the movie they embrace and she realizes that it was just wishful-thinking.

No one can ever be "fatigued" watching one of Meryl Streep's great performances.

It's about time. She should have won so many other times as well. But at least she is recognized as the American actress who delivers consistently great performances.

She is wonderful in this movie. I got a copy of it from a friend in Australia. Very believeable and unmannered. You'd never imagine she was one of the great prima donnas of the world.

This was recorded very early in her career. As for Wagner, she said in many interviews that she never regretted leaving Wagner alone. Not even Isolde, which she admitted she had a hankering for earlier in her career.

This is a whole 3-act play in one song. That's why she's so famous. She's incredible.

Who knew she could roller skate?! But really, those of us old enough to have seen her at the beginning knew she was great, but when this movie came out everyone knew that she was PHENOMENAL. There are many great performers, but she is really unique.

I just got around to seeing Monster for the first time. Very disturbing movie. But great acting performances. Charlize Theron very much deserved this award. Her characterization stays with you. She's a gorgeous woman, hard to believe how awful she looked in the film.

The fact of evil. Bette Davis was a master of these scenes. That's why she is still remembered as one of the great screen actresses.

People who aren't old enough don't realize what a phenomenon she was when she first burst on the scene. After 50 years, it's easy to say enough Barbra, but you can't imagine the thrill of seeing her for the first time on a 40-foot screen, belting out this number and outshining Lady Liberty!

I saw her in this role in 1974. Stunning. Of course, her voice is not really full enough, but she still makes it her own. There is always room for many interpretations, and Sills was a great musician; she can hold her own with Sutherland, Callas, et al.
