World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day 2014 - the journey begins

179 views 1 month ago
World Hepatitis Day takes place on the 28th July every year. It is one of only four disease specific awareness days recognized by the World Health Organization, along with World Aids Day, World TB Day and World Malaria Day. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people celebrate World Hepatitis Day across the world with events such as concerts, marches, testing and vaccination drives, exhibitions and fundraisers.

Viral hepatitis is the 8th biggest cause of death worldwide, killing more people than HIV/AIDS. Its prevalence is severely underestimated, leading many people not to know the risks or the symptoms. World Hepatitis Day is a global opportunity to raise awareness about this disease, and absolutely anyone can take part.
