I don't really play out anymore - I don't seem to get the buzz that I used to and when that goes there doesn't seem to be any point.

Occasionally (once every few years) I'll get the urge to play out, so I'll go to an open mic night or something - do a song or two and that's that for another few years.
For the past 3 months I've been meaning to wander 100 yards up the road to do an open mic - its on a Wednesday night. Every week I forget...I guess that shows how seriously I take this performing lark.

You tube suits me as a venue - no drunk audience members requesting stairwaytoheavenvincentstreetsoflondonamericanpiehotelcalifornia.
It's hard to get a rotten tomato through a tft monitor!

I play Woodtone guitars exclusively. I am lucky enough to own 3:
A '97 000 6 string (king billy pine top, fiddleback blackwood back and sides)

A '96 cutaway dreadnought 6 string (cocobolo back and sides, spruce top, gidgee fingerboard, herringbone trim.

A cutaway dreadnought 10-string (identical to the 6 string (except with bearclaw spruce top) - i commissioned in 2003. It is essentially like a 12 string without the octave d or g strings. it is strung heavily 60-15 (i usually have to build these sets from bits and bobs but am currently looking at Newtone strings as they can build them especially to one's needs. The guitar was built to be able to handle this heavy guage and it is generally tuned 3.5 steps low and it can go lower than that (I've had my low E at A and it handles it fine).

I get a lot of questions about Tab - if i can point people in the direction of it etc. - I don't use it, I learn by ear, nor can i read or write music down - I'm an unfortunate who must rely on an increasingly failing memory.
