You should have seen that trail before it was blasted, it had several shear drop offs ranging from 30' to 80'. Used to use these on the ski area here until they bought thiokols and piston bullies. These things will go anywhere if you have the nut to drive them. We had one we would pull the tracks off of in the summer and we ran 39" mud tires on it. That thing handled really weird on tires!

Sounds like the belt is shot and probably a problem with the clutch. The tranny is wore too as it is kicking out of 2nd. I rode a lot of miles on these Alpines and Alpine II's. The ski area that i worked at found that the Alpine II's went better with bogie wheel kits installed instead of the sliders. It was also less maintenance too.

Some people just buy them and park them. I know of a 87 Chevy 4X4 loaded with only 10k on it stashed away. Truck still smells new inside.
