what does the starter do when the brushes are bad, i have a 1979 gl 1000 and i have to hit the ignition a few times before it will turn over, its is like the battery is dead but its not,, and this starter very simmilar to mine it looks like it

what does the starter clutch act do...i am having a problem with my 79 gl1000 i have to hit the ignition a few times before it will crank over,, it almost sounds like a dead battery,, new cylinoid and good connection,, would that act be my starter gone or some like it being bound up and turning hard

@MrEzwyder yes i did that the noise is the exhaust fan going in the back,,it is call glamour clear it is about 300$ for a glallon but 2 coats of it = 4 of other clears so its worth it..
