Hello friend, I'm in Australia but it's basically the same car as Caprice SS, except right-hand-drive! Cheers.

I often suspected that. In Australia, the Omega is mainly used by law enforcement and fleets, as the Berlina costs only slightly more and is much more appealing in terms of styling and equipment for private buyers.

G'day mate, I was actually looking up Falcon XR8s out of boredom when I saw a CV listed in the drop-down menu. I had no plans to buy a car but had to take the opportunity. I paid $7.8k including a lot of working police gear.
I've mostly focused on some neglected mechanical issues. It now has new DBA Gold front discs (which were cheaper to import from the US even though it's Australian-made!), Hawk pads, K&N panel filter, Optima yellowtop... and next up is an oil leak and a busted park brake.

Well spotted! Upon further research, it appears Brighton PD based their design on Ford's livery but the font differs slightly. The snow pic was taken in March by "DM_Colorado" on flickr. He writes:
"The Chief was very specific on the design and new look for his agency. This new “look” will start showing up all over since Ford used a very similar look on their new Interceptor vehicles. ...This particular customer chose to have the white section in solid white reflective."

That would be cool, even the guys with stock Pontiac G8s report getting compliments and queries all the time. And of course the Caprice PPV is getting a lot of attention at the moment too. The officers in Geelong liked the car, and I remember one remarking that Australian police are only just starting to get some of the computer technology that the US has enjoyed for years. Cheers.
