You can see a Volcanic rifle in the movie For a Few Dollars More. Eastwood holds it during the final duel when he lends his pistol to Van Cleef. Notice that the rifle is not fired during the movie. Would be pretty hard to make a studio blank without converting the gun.

The replica ammo is wildly incorrect. This weapon fired a crude form of caseless ammo with less energy than a modern .22 short. Back in the day, you would not want to face someone armed with a model 1851 Colt with one of these.

Leone's depiction of a Southwest Civil War battle is not so much artistic license, either. It occurred at Peralta, Arizona, and involved the same Confederate general mentioned in the movie. No bridge, however, and no modern explosives to blow parts of it into low Earth orbit.
