more
The Cosmic Rough Riders are a pop/rock band from Glasgow, United Kingdom. They were originally formed in 1998 by Daniel Wylie and Stephen Fleming, and later they were joined by Mark Brown and James Clifford. To date they have recorded five albums, and had four singles in the UK Top 40.
They self-released the albums Deliverance (1999) and Panorama (2000), both having been recorded in a community funded recording studio located in Glasgow's Castlemilk housing scheme. The band's third album, Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine containing the above two songs was released in November 2000, actually a compilation of songs from Panorama and Deliverance. By the end of 2001, the album Enjoy the Melodic Sunshine had achieved silver status (sales of 60,000) in the UK and it was named by Q magazine as one of the 50 best albums of the year.
In March 2002, founder member of Cosmic Rough Riders, Stephen Fleming added lead vocals to his duties when original singer, Daniel Wylie, left to pursue a solo career. The release in September 2002 of the rarities and b-sides album, Pure Escapism, was the closing of one chapter in the band's story. (Summarised from Wikipedia).

The Easybeats were arguably the best and most influential Australian rock band of the sixties. According to Milesago (a great site on Australian rock and popular culture), they had fifteen top 40 singles in Australia between 1965 and 1970, including three number one hits. They generated teenage hysteria in the early days (known as 'Easyfever'), not unlike Beatlemania. During 1966 they went to England to try and crack the big time. In September, they recorded at Abbey Road studios with then Who producer Shel Talmy and cut four new tracks - "Remember Sam", "Made My Bed, Gonna Lie In It", "Pretty Girl" and "Friday On My Mind". The choice of single was obvious. "Friday On My Mind" is a perennial classic, and a genuine working-class anthem. Made My Bed was the flip side of that single. This is the seldom heard stereo studio version of Made My Bed (Gonna Lie In It), superimposed over a clip of them playing it live. (Unfortunately there was a cut in the clip, which put the sound out of sync in the second haff of the video).

This was a song used by Australian television (ABC) to promote its 2006 program line up. Unfortunately this is only an excerpt of the song (other sections of it were used for different promotions although i don't have those).
I loved this song when I heard it, and found it was done by Al Harding, who composes music for film, TV and other mediums. His company Ultrasound6 is based in Melbourne. Unfortunately this song was not released commercially.

more
This is the George Washingmachine Quartet playing live featuring Ian Date on guitar and George playing the violin solo. On rhythm guitar is Tony Burkeys, and the bassist is Natalie Morrison (thanks Oasisbill for this info). At a guess, I'd say this was around the nineties.
Known for his delightful sense of humour and superb musicality, George Washingmachine is an Australian multi-instrumentalist, usually as a violinist and vocalist yet also proficient on the double bass, guitar or anything with strings. George has had a vast and varied career in the entertainment business. As a child he trained for 7 years as a classical violinist, leaving that behind to form a rhythm and blues band as guitarist, until he moved to Sydney in 1984 and started playing jazz fiddle with The Conway Brothers Hiccup Orchestra. Since that time, George has performed in countless bands and productions as a musician, actor and comedian both on stage and on screen.
Ian Date's playing has been informed and influenced by a strong love of the jazz tradition. Such guitar greats such as Django Reinhardt, Barney Kessell and Wes Montgomery have inspired his guitar playing. Ian first started playing gypsy jazz as a teenager and ran several successful Hot Club style bands in Australia. He recorded several albums in this style and toured extensively. Since 2002 he has lived in County Cork, Ireland. Ian performs regularly throughout the Emerald Isle and Europe and tours in Australia every year to continue making a contribution to Australian Jazz.
The video picture is not great, but the sound shows off the soloists to good effect.

more
Scared Weird Little Guys (also referred to as SWLG or The Scaredies) are an Australian comedy music duo formed in July 1990, comprising John Chaplin-Fleming (vocals, guitar, mandolin) and Rusty Berther (vocals, guitar, banjo). These are two of my favourite songs performed at the Australia Day Concert in Canberra 2005.
The duo has had much success touring Australia, as well as more than 20 tours of festivals and college campuses in North America, and three tours of the UK in 1997, 1998 and 2001.
The name "Scared Weird Little Guys" comes from a line in the Al Pacino movie 'Cruising'.
Sadly they have recently broken up. To find out more about their music, check out their website.
