About this user
Hello, fellow YouTubers! My name is Wil, a native of New York City.
For many years, I have been an anonymous, part-time volunteer for a few non-profit organizations, but now I am a full-time humanitarian and planning to travel to the most distressed and dangerous places on planet Earth.
Since serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War era, I have always been committed to serve humanity with a sense of duty and obligation. Now, I am preparing for many years of faithful humanitarian service around the globe, and I am asking for your moral, financial, and emotional support.
To foster a better world for humanity, I believe one should give back (more than he or she takes) to his or her family, friends, and global community.
I discovered the true value of life in a V.A. hospital in Texas in 1998. It was, without question and beyond doubt, not a pleasant memory about which I have talked about freely; however, it is a miracle that I have happily cherished in my heart for many years. Yes, I am indeed a very fortunate veteran, who is coping with a severe disability that nearly ended my life in Dallas.
Now, I want to "give back" to humanity. I feel compelled to go the distance and do my part to help the poor, the vulnerable, the illiterate, the oppressed, the persecuted, and all other people in distressed.
No, I am not a god.
No, I am not an elitist.
No, I am not Elvis.
No, I am not a racist.
No, I am not a politician.
No, I am not a sexist.
No, I am not a xenophobe.
No, I am not a saint.
No, I am not a hero.
No, I am not a very important person...
I am just an average person who wants to make a difference and perhaps inspire others to serve humanity as well.
What's the catch?
There is no catch. I have a very simple explanation: Because of the compassionate efforts of the V.A. hospital staff that saved my life in 1998, I feel heavily indebted to return the gift of compassion to unfortunate people around the world.
The late Mr. Fred McFeely Rogers, my childhood mentor, once said:
"Anything that is human is mentionable. And if it is mentionable, it can be more manageable. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary."
As a child, I was an avid viewer of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Yes, Mr. Rogers, an ordained Presbyterian minister, was one of the many positive role models who had instilled a sense of duty and obligation into my inner being.
Mr. Rogers' no-nonsense, unwavering stance of serving humanity helped prepared me to face the very strict rigors of the United States Marine Corps to which I was "professionally" introduced by my beloved Senior Drill Instructor and his three outstanding Assistant Drill Instructors at Parris Island, South Carolina.
I had duly served in the United States Marine Corps with honor and distinction, during which time I have developed a profound interest in serving humanity. My first humanitarian effort was helping the people of Charleston, South Carolina after the Hurricane Hugo disaster in 1989.
Despite my disability, I am preparing myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. With your help as my sponsor, I am willing to travel to the most hellish places upon earth to serve humanity. No, I am not crazy... I am a United States Marine, who is making a difference.
Your contribution of $1 or more, along with contributions from other caring YouTubers, will have a profound impact on the recipients of our collective self-sacrifice and selfless giving.
