About Me:
Writing is my passion.
I have to pen that first and foremost
Before I begin to forego
Any happenings, actions
Or any type of happiness and sadness.
It is through my writing ability
That I am literally
Able to express feelings, dealings
Emotions, feelings of hopelessness
Struggles and troubles in my life
That are sometimes difficult to convey
On any given day otherwise.
I didn't always use writing as a vehicle to vent
In fact, after a few mediocre attempts
Writing was a second or third option
To discuss topics
And I kept that same logic until I adopted
Quite notably, the ability to write poetry.
Even still that brief belief came and went
I was always on the fence
Because I lacked what was needed from within.
I felt unprepared for my poetry to be shared
And I didn't want to go there...I was scared.
I didn't want to be judged
In the court of public opinion
Fearing some may have ill feelings
Not taking me serious.
But I soon grew tired of hypotheticals
When I knew the talent I had
Was something special.
Tired of the strain being on my brain
From disdain statements of "what if".
So I let go of what I knew at the time, drew a line
And began subjecting my soul to expose my gift.
Poetry is all about expression
And I now feel if I can't express myself
I might as well be breathless.
