Bill Putnam was the engineer at Universal Studios in Chicago where Walter recorded all his best stuff,and yes it was Bill who got that sound on Walter's harp.

@willwelsh816 It's a ten hole harmonica on this track-Honer Marine Band in Bb,played in the key of F.

The big harmonica in the photo is a Honer Super 64 Chromonica,sixteen holes.He used that one on some of his other records-'Lights Out' is an example.

The guitar you are hearing is actually played by Grady Martin.

@54Richie There are indeed two guitars.

The lead is Grady Martin-you can hear him using the Bigsby arm quite clearly during the break.

The other guitar player is unknown.

@Rotis59 There is an alternate take of 'Last Night' which is on an old Chess compliation L.P.

As I recall there is no harmonica on it and the words are slightly different.

This is the 'single' version and is the best one.

Everyone now knows that the genius guitar playing on the Nashville sessions by the Burnette trio was Grady Martin,as I have known since 1982.
