It refers to unusable electrical energy (radio frequencies), which produce harmonics and transients that flow along electrical power lines. Experts also call dirty electricity, electrical noise. Dirty electricity comes from inside the home as well as outside.

Class I Dirty Electricity results from electrical interference caused by the dramatic increase of electronics, dimmer switches, computers and efficiency lighting inside. Power conversion from AC to DC within these devices distort the smooth 60 hertz wave, creating kilohertz level signals, causing a saw-tooth wave with electrical spikes that typically range from 1kilohertz to 500 KHz (thousands of cycles/ second).
