The Outsider
Absurdly comic, highly kinetic, and at times quite emotional, The Outsider gives a very inside look at what it means to be a filmmaker. The film follows legendary writer/director James Toback (The Gambler, Two Girls and a Guy, Bugsy) through the insane making of his recent thriller When Will I Be Loved starring Neve Campbell. All phases of Toback's wild filmmaking journey are chronicled as he shoots his movie in 12 days without a script and battles to get it distributed. Candid interviews with Woody Allen, Robert Downey, Jr., Mike Tyson, Brooke Sheilds, Harvey Keitel, Norman Mailer, Barry Levinson and more reveal the complex life and work of this compulsive gambler and exceptional film talent.

In a duck who believes him to be its mother, an old man discovers the will to live on... DUCK is a sad-funny story of hope and survival, set in Los Angeles' as-of-yet avertable future. In 2009, when Los Angeles' last city park is closed to the public, a dispossessed man—and the duck who follows him as a mother—quest west, on foot, in search of water and meaning, in the desert that is L.A.
Arthur (Philip Baker Hall) is a retired history professor who has outlived his time and place, friends and family, resources and reasons to live. In the park where his son and wife are buried, Arthur contemplates putting an end to his own life, when he is confronted by an orphaned duckling who has just escaped death. Arthur names this duckling Joe. Joe follows Arthur, the only mother he knows. When their park is landfilled and their pond is drained, Arthur and Joe engage in a Sisyphean struggle to survive, seeking a means to live, a place to live, and a purpose to live, in a world where their lives are not valued. In their search, Arthur and Joe encounter a host of strangers—some hostile, some helpful, some heroic—until, finally forming a community and a home. If we are but six degrees of separation from one another, are we as few to being alone? Produced, written, and directed by Nic Bettauer, DUCK is the only narrative feature film winner of the year's Women In Film Foundation Film Finishing Fund. DUCK was an Official Selection of the Avignon & Avignon / New York, Hollywood, Denver (where Philip Baker Hall received The John Cassavetes Award for achievement and excellence in American cinema) and Sao Paulo International Film Festivals. DUCK won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at its Cinequest World Premiere and was selected for the prestigious American Cinematheque's "Independent Showcase". DUCK won Best Foreign Dramatic Feature at the inaugural European Independent Film Festival.
DUCK, theatrically distributed by Right Brained Releasing in Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, then beyond via Landmark and AMC Select Cinemas, is a one-of-a-kind fable about thinking outside the flock

Running with Arnold
Running with Arnold is a politically-charged documentary that tells the fascinating and humorous story of one of the most famous men of our time. From his childhood in post World War II Austria, through his days as a weightlifting champion and action movie star, the film exposes Arnold Schwarzenegger's life in all of its sordid glory. We watch how Arnold's ambition for fame and power have led him on a "take no prisoners" political career that resulted in his winning the political circus special recall election campaign to become the leader of the world's fifth largest economy as Governor of California.
With movements afoot to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow for foreign born presidential candidates, how far will Arnold go in his drive for power? Will the governor's office be enough? See for yourself and draw your own conclusions!

As their relationship grows, Steven can't seem to find a way out of living the lie and, with the "encouragement" of some friends who are excited to have the old Steven back, Steven takes subtle measures to keep the misunderstanding alive.
Finally, as guilt and true love build, Steven decides to come clean to Maria. But before he can tell her, Maria discovers the lie for herself and ends any chance of redemption he may have. From the birth of cinema through the 1960s in the United States, most pornographic films were brief, black and white, anonymously produced films known as "stag films", "blue movies", or "smokers," so called because of the smoke-filled rooms where men would gather for private screenings. Initially shot on 35mm film, the advent of 16mm and 8mm consumer film stock allowed for production of about 1,000 of these films between 1915 and 1968. This film examines the "stag" film not as much for the subject matter or lack of production value, but as a metaphor and reflection of American popular culture. Featuring film footage from the largest private "stag" film collection in North America, American Stag is an amazing study of a subterranean phenomena of cinema in the western world. Featuring interviews with Adam Carolla, Melvin Van Peebles, Tommy Chong, Barbara Hammer, Linda Williams, Chris Gore, David Skal, and Rupert Jee. Written by J. Smithton
