Hi. My name is Wendy. I've been a 401(k) specialist in the financial services industry for the last 9 years. What I like about that is that I get to help people understand the plan they're in. I also help reduct the panic-selling low after buying high, due to media-hype when they should do the opposite, i.e., buy high and sell low.
And when I'm able to help them, it really puts a smile on my face, and I feel great. Also my company has a choir, and I get to sing in the choir and I love to sing.
The thing I really don't like about my job and really frustrates me is that I work in a call center. I don't know if you've ever worked in a call center, or not, but Here's how it looks.
I'm tied to the phone. I'm monitored all the time as to how long I talk to people. If I talk to long to them, even though I might be helping them, if I talk too long, it's not good for the company's numbers. It may have to hire more people because I'm talking too long. I find that really frustrating because I like helping.
And there's a button on my phone with "Aux" on it. I have to push a button to go to the bathroom. I have to push that button to go make a personal phone call. I have only so many minutes for break and lunch to get my personal business done - the doctor, the insurance company, etc. - they all have business hours the same time I'm at work.
This is very frustrating.
And when I want to go on vacation I have to compete with my colleagues for time off. If the slot I want is already assigned, I may not be able to get it even though I have already made plans.
So when I started my home based business I had the chance to work on my fortune part time. I'm hoping to eventually go on half time at my job so that I can have more choices in my life - and that's what I really want!
Also, the minute I started a home based business I was able to save a lot of taxes - and that's fantastic.
Look, I'm 2 years away from being able to retire with full retiree medical - with my business I'll have the freedom to do what I want.
