Despite how much the singer's voice grates on my ears, I still think this is a great song. The lyrics are amazing, and the music kills. If he keened just a little less ... somehow kept all that raw emotion and soul without the ice-pick sensation, that would be awesome. Great shit, though, besides.

Have you ever tried grounding your guitars without soldering to the backs of the pots? I gave one of my pots a huge dose of heat today because the factory solder just wouldn't melt. My tech had the same problem that I did with the factory solider and he uses a much more powerful iron than my 40 W...

Hey, John. I saw on GPR that they sell no load pots. Would you recommend buying a pot made to be no load already, or to just do the mod to a regular pot?

Your playing is great. The sound is really top notch, too. Still, do you have any recordings with your original caps? It would be great to do a composite video that played one sound clip after the other, original vs. new.

Is it really a 0.1 uf capacitor? That seems seriously high. I hear a lot of high end and I thought conventional wisdom was that 0.047 uf caps were especially dark, with an 0.1 uf -- twice the value, basically, of an 0.047 uf -- I wouldn't expect so much treble.

Nice to see a fellow lefty. I'm considering rewiring my Hagstrom Swede and putting in some new caps. It's got .022s right now, green chicklet ones ... not sure if I'm going to go with anything more than just some c0g/np0 ceramic replacements, though. I'm not totally sure whether the cap thing is ...

@johnplanetz -- I've got a cart saved at Mouser, full of capacitors, but I haven't fired on the purchase yet. They're just ceramic c0g/np0 caps, nothing fancy. The most expensive ones were less than $2. But I couldn't find any audio taper pots on Mouser; everything seems to be linear. I'll check ...

Did you show, in any of your previous videos, how you made that cardboard control panel? Did you just desolder all the components, remove them from the guitar and then alligator clip those test leads to your pickup hot wires and the cardboard control's pots' terminals?
