I HAVE DISABLED COMMENTS ON THIS VIDEO. To all negative commenters: There is more than one way to apply thermal compound. This is just one of several. On this particular system, I found that this method worked best after using several other methods.
Some alternative (and equally valid) ways to apply compound:
1. Place a small dab in the middle, apply pressure with the heatsink, and allow it to spread evenly. 2. Follow the procedure in this video, but instead use a plastic bag over your finger to spread the compound 3. Place a line of compound across the CPU (ensuring that you hit both dies if you have two), and then spread it with heatsink 4. Follow the procedure in this video (which works fine!)
Original Description: When applying thermal compund, a small dab should be placed in the middle of the cpu and spread evenly with a business or index card. When complete the coat should be thin and even.

This video shows you a possible solution I found if reflowing with hot air doesnt work, to the E74 error message.
Note do not atempt self repairs if u still have a warranty, if u do void ur waranty make sure u fully understand wat than means. Do not atempt relf repairs if u cant even get the case open by urself n know that ul nd thermal paste ahead if time.
The problem is either the scaler chip or the grahics chip called ANA or the GPU. From over use the solder inside the chip became loose, my solution the same penny trick used to hold the memory in place. I simpy wraped 11 pennys, which mite be to much 10 should do but test around, in electrical tape and placed them on top of the chip the result when i place the cooling duct bak and the dvd drive back they will push the penys down and hold the loose scaler chip in place. I sugest u do this after heating the ANA with a hairdryer only for a short time no more than a minute just to soften it but not to much(this is reflowing without the correct tools but can work, dont use a hot air gun as its to hot for reflowing ur not removing it!). Do some testing with ur fingers like i did n see if it boots up. I found after a couple of days this actualy fixed it for good but cant say it will be the same for every one, meaning the penys hav 2 stay in, so secure them.
The initial fault is bad solder(see other sites for indepth explanation) and it needs to be reflowed with heat for a more permanent solution same goes for the gpu as it can cause the e74 error aswel.
If u do have the equipment ant skills there are sites that explain how to remove the ANA or GPU and rebal it with better solder for a permanent solution.
