Chicago's latest indie duo is bringing a little art and sex to the music scene. The Loneliest Monk is the musical marriage of local artists Michelle Morales and Miles Benjamin. The Loneliest Monk is a blend of Michelle's classical and rock background, and of Miles' folk rock tastes. Their sound combines cello, Rhodes piano, drums, samples, and vocals from both. They bring to the stage a sort of cool, haunting, and sexual air that is a welcoming detraction from the normal indie four-piece.
You may have seen Michelle in the news a few months back as she won a finalist spot in YouTube's My Grammy Moment. She traveled to the 2008 Grammy Awards and performed with The Foo Fighters; a fantastic event that was conducted by rock legend John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin.
