The movie got really bad reviews when it came out in 1969, but I think it's a forgotten classic with a once in a lifetime cast, plus Jose Feliciano's theme song just makes the movie for me. Saw it on television back in the early '70's when CBS used to run movies in prime time on Thursday nights.

I read Ghost Story over thirty years ago and thought it was awesome; thanks for spotlighting a great book that's been out for awhile. I agree that it should be remade as a mini-series, having so many plot threads. You should also check out Floating Dragon, also by Peter Straub. It's very good.

I first read IT over 20 years ago, when King was in his prime; the group sex in the sewer is the only part I had a problem with. Don't bother with the movie, the special effects, especially the big spider, ruin it. By all means read Ghost Story, it's my favorite non-King horror novel.

@siffil8 Yes it was re-released in 1989, I remember it getting a lot of air play on the radio toward the end of summer that year. Great tune, only in the 80's.

From a Buick 8 is not A list Stephen King, but comes pretty close. And if he doesn't tie everything up at the end, it's still worth the ride.

@skinnygoth19 Another good choice to play Big Jim would be John Lithgow; base this on his performance as the Trinity Killer on Dexter. He's terrific at projecting the false sincerity necessary for the character.

@canto1408 I read the final volume in the Dark Tower series last winter and in my opinion, the ending is something you'll either accept and believe or reject completely. As always, the Constant Reader is the ultimate judge.
