Alas this was from the days when the Tattoo was really more a military show at Edinburgh. No Choir, no cute Tattoo dancing lassies, less filler stuff from Commonwealth. etc. Just more of the bands when there were still many about. Not the case today.

Nice to see this museum finally. It seems every time I am in Toronto usually on a weekend in late October to see the annual Massed Bands Spectacular at Roy Thompson Hall just across the street the 48th Museum is unfortunately closed. So nice to get a peek here at least.

Very interesting to see this time honored Musical Ride performed by King's Troop in Boer War garb. Musical accompaniment has a bit too much strings! House band use to be one of the military bands detailed for that purpose.

Very nice display by this band playing some of the old German and Prussian music. The Grosser Kurfusten Marsch with the traditional Cavalry Trumpeters from Frederick II time is always nice to see. This band seems to favor the old marches more than some of the other German bands it seems.

Very nice display. Great salute to US Navy in the beginning. "Kameraden Auf See" remains one of the classic German march favorites.

Tattoo humor is fine as along as it does not become too many acts. NS Tattoo has made this mistake often lately. This act comes directly from there. Amusing as a break from the bands for a bit. Hopefully Berliner Fest knows not too have more than one per show!

Actually this version is by the bands of the KIngs Own Scottish Borderers (KOSBs) which was a series of LPs called TARTAN TOP TWENTY. However the band of the Black Watch under Norman Rogerson first created this tune around 1976. It was featured with great success on the USA tour of that year.
