you're not getting my point either. you should know why trenches are never reliable those times. also i know that he realized that the japs are going to take the entire country but... the territory is to his advantage and why not use such advantage to give a fatal blow to the japs? ever thought of that?

and did i literally say that they would enter a burning city? what i meant was burning every city they are planning to take, it would be an effective delaying action for a counter attack, duh!

that's what i said earlier, evacuate all the civilians of the city or the place where the japs would come. simply put, turn a town or a city into a ghost town or ghost city when they arrive. burn it down, ensure that the civilans are properly evacuated. that way no civilians would die, only japs will die, die of hunger and out of supplies, turn the said ghost town or city into a trap and use it to your advantage. anyways, look at what happened to russians in moscow. if McArthur did the same thing in manila he could have achieved greater casualties to the enemy.

the russians were even better, even though stalingrad and moscow were important cities, they utilized them for their own advantage.

attrition means killing your opponents slowly but surely by starving them. what happened in russia was a good example, their sheer numbers did not win, but the attrition of russian winter did. our country could be a potential death trap if mcarthur used his head. he can always use island hopping tactics. isolate, starve and then kill the japs when they are stranded to a certain island in our country and etc. evacuate the cities and burn them to the ground, leave nothing useful behind (food, water or anything that would prove useful to the japs). use tactics like what german did to their cities when americans came, burn them down and leave nothing behind. cut their supplies and use delaying actions and etc.
