[1990] Freygang plays 'Europa'; lyrics by Key Pankonin -
'What a beauty is This perfect world Germ-free, hygienic, In good health
Everything's sparkling Clean and tidy All that smells Gets covered up
Look here, Mother Earth Now you're being lynched
In every bucket of water There's arsenic and lead And every bit of fresh air Gets you high
Look here, Mother Earth Now you're being lynched'
[...]
[pirate-'Radio P' announcer] Radio P on 106, the first Free Radio of East Berlin! Tonight Ichfunktion will be playing in the Eimer, starting in 10 minutes from now.
[Aljoscha Rompe] We are here at the Wydok Club, located at Schönhauser Allee 5.
[Girl] Wydoks is an association of independent people who are simply acting against being ruled by some kind of 'money people'. One of our actions was standing for the local elections.
[2001] [AGP] I was sitting with Aljoscha in the Rechenberg. He said 'We have to make a political party now, and we'll need a name'. So we began scribbling hieroglyphics on beer-mats.
[F.] [reading] 'Who are the Wydoks? Where they came from no-one exactly knows. At some time they turned up on the territory of the former GDR, and settled on the formerly publicly owned soil -
we're asking everyone to take over houses, as long as they're still publicly owned, as they belong to you! This is your last chance, this is OUR last chance of being autonomous and stay that way. We need our own concert-halls, cafés, pubs, and cinemas. We need our own law-firms, in order to take action against the net of intrigues around us. And we need our own deputies.'
It's hard to believe that we had seriously assumed having our own cafés and pubs would allow us to make things different. That was naive and charming at the same time.
[AGP] 'Alternative Leftist List' on top, followed by 'Wydoks Autonomous Action', then 'Diabetics' Association'...
[F.] Pretty much involved! [AGP] ... and us on No.2. We found all of that very amusing.
Tacheles (-squat) was also involved. I stood there on a rostrum, speakers' corner-kind of thing. People gathering around found it extremely funny that I was standing there, the rock musican.
[F.] But it lead to nothing, as people all had their own worries at the time - so why be interested in the Wydoks? We got 2,200 or so votes.
We originally did not intend to be incorporated into the Federal Republic of Germany, but rather have an autonomous, odd country of our own. Until the spring of 1990 we still believed that this would somehow come true.

Unemployment and Reggae from Poland - feature originally aired on Radio Teheran / East-Berlin (pirate radio) in 1998. This is an edited version from 2009 for which most of the music was cut out. All featured music by Polish Reggae artists and Udo Jürgens (full tracklist below). English transcript:
You may have plenty of friends and a lot of fun.
It's a way of life, an attitude - you cannot become it, you have to be it by birth.
All the girls will really go for you if you're listening to Polish Reggae.
It usually cheers me up when I'm down.
Especially in winter when everything's cold out there you just turn on your stereo and listen to some very nice Polish Reggae like IZRAEL or even BRYGADA KRYZYS - that's really cool.
Especially when you're unemployed you have a lot of time and you can listen to Reggae all day.
What role does Reggae music play in your life?
From morning till night I'm listening to Reggae music.
What especially does Reggae from Poland mean to you?
Reggae from Poland is like curd without milk.
What sort of role does Reggae music play in your life?
Rarely heard it - actually a very small role in my life.
If you could make a choice between unemployment and Reggae from Poland, what would you choose?
Unemployment.
You could as well combine unemployment and Reggae from Poland?
I don't think so.
If you could make a choice between unemployment and Reggae from Poland, what would you choose?
I any case Reggae from Poland.
Have you ever been confronted with unemployment?
I've only heard about from reports in the daily press.
You do not have to make a choice between unemployment and Reggae from Poland neither?
I would probably try to combine the two things in a healthy dialectic manner.
Unemployment AND Reggae from Poland?
Yes.
As a symbiosis?
As a symbol of modern development.
The subject is unemployment and Reggae from Poland.
Obviously.
Do drugs play a role when you listen to Reggae?
They sure do. With drugs you can even enhance your feeling for this beautiful music.
Is unemployment a great matter to you or what role does unemployment play for you?
So far it has made me very happy.
When you are unemployed you have a lot of time, especially for listening to Reggae music from Poland and being high.
You can get money from the government.
It's been a pretty good time - so far.
