Clapton is playing the same old blues licks he was playing 30 years ago. He's a great singer but there's nothing remarkable about his playing at all.

@koaguilds Jazz is not about recreating what was on the record. Any true jazz artist should be constantly re-interpreting his own material. It's so rare that Metheny plays this at all so we should be happy with what we get.

@Jonnyferrari202 Actually Joe's solo has a lot more nuance and playfullness to it. It's a nice contrast to Freddie. What you call jam out on one note is actually him developing a little motif to work with.

I am going nuts over all these wazoo recordings! This is the kind of stuff he would have devoted more time to if there was more of a market for instrumental music. SUrely the ZFT will put out more of it..right?
