@tahoeclimber As a matter of fact I do. I'm just being realistic. Hendrix was great but he was great in a specific kind of way. Just like Jerry was great in a specific kind of way. I wouldn't expect Hendrix to play a rippin' solo on a bluegrass tune just like I wouldn't expect Jerry to shatter m...

@koaguilds Jazz is not about recreating what was on the record. Any true jazz artist should be constantly re-interpreting his own material. It's so rare that Metheny plays this at all so we should be happy with what we get.

you people are so dramatic! Pat has said himself he intended it to be completely flat music...whatever that means. but obvisously it is not a serious music statement. The rumours about it being a 'fuck you' to Geffen are probably true.

@Jonnyferrari202 Actually Joe's solo has a lot more nuance and playfullness to it. It's a nice contrast to Freddie. What you call jam out on one note is actually him developing a little motif to work with.

This is great! So nice to hear different arrangments of these tunes...especially with this band. Thanks for the post.
Clapton is playing the same old blues licks he was playing 30 years ago. He's a great singer but there's nothing remarkable about his playing at all.
