Angelo Debarre is without question one of my three favorite manouche jazz guitarists in the world today, the other two being Bireli Lagrene and Tchavolo Schmitt. (John Jorgensen is a very close fourth).

I've seen these guys in person twice: once at the Django Reinhardt Festival in Laguna Beach California and once at the Django Festival in Samois-sur-Seine, France, both times they were amazing.

I just finished reading "La Tristesse de Saint-Louis" by Mike Zwerin, his study of jazz during the Nazi regime, and he had many anecdotes about Django, but I never heard this one before, so it's always great to hear new stories about Django. Thanks for p[osting this.
