i just wanted to let you know that i enjoyed watching your episodes about the history of mermaids :3

one thing i don't think you mentioned in your "mermaids are real" series when talking about mermaids in selkie lore is that many times selkies or mermaids marry fisherman! selkies having a seal skin which they use in water, and a human form when out of the water make this marriage possible. in one tale i grew up with, the fisherman hides his selkie-bride's skin so that she cannot return to the water... i think this is just proof of real history being adopted into a myth (perhaps as a cover-up?) in that, it is entirely plausible that a man (or a culture) would encourage a woman to give up (either willingly or unwillingly) her aquatic profession or hobby in order to make the man the main bread-winner. maybe i m making that up, but a lot of what you said has rung true for me, so i thought i'd throw that out there...

Does this matriarchy mean that women will finally be able to take care of themselves and will value men for the simple fact that we exist? Being that women see children as their property already, does this mean that men will finally be free from having to support women and THEIR children. Does matriarchy mean that men will finally be free from women?
