This is a video-briefing on the latest progress of earthquake engineering and, in particular, of structural control technologies developed by Valentin Shustov (CSUN and CSULB). Initial testing of Earthquake Protector, pertaining to seismic base isolation, was supported by NSF; research project was entitled "SGER: Testing of a New Line of Seismic Base Isolation" (CMMI-0618183). Research software called Earthquake Performance Evaluation Tool (EPET) was developed by Sergey Shustov. Concurrent experiments were performed at the UC San Diego Large High Performance Outdoor Shake Table (LHPOST) with the operational support from The George E. Brown, Jr. Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES), from CECEM Department of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) and from Basseri Engineering, Santa Monica, CA. Earthquake Protector proved to be many times more effective than any known type of seismic base isolators.
