Considering the limits of the record technology of the era( possibly the twenties?) the voice is incredible in it's power and beauty.We must be grateful and remember that this man was already studying singing when Verdi was still alive.

I always loved Dame Joan's voice; I just wish her diction was better; all of her Italian is muddled.I adore the huge voice but I also love the emotion that one gets from the words; she also occasionally had a pitch problem here and there. She was a great one, but she wasn't Callas.

Glorious..I had the old vinyl, wept the first time I heard it. One of the most sublimely beautiful pieces of recording ever accomplished. His "prendi l'anel ti dono" from I Puritaini is also on the old vunyl, sublime also.
