Here's how I play Girls on Film by Duran Duran. This video shows me playing the song live on my Telecaster and my acoustic against a backing track I made in Garageband. I used a Strat in the backing track for the verse parts. In the video, you see me using the neck pickup in my Telecaster to lay down the power chords for the chorus bits.

This isn't meant to be a note-for-note reproduction of the original. It's just how I've come to play the song.

There's two parts to the video. The first shows me playing the tune, and the second is a brief, voiceless tutorial. No tabs, but my fingerings should be clear enough for you to see how I put this together.

Someone requested this a couple of months ago.

The guitar parts to this song are relatively simple. The catchy riff in the verse is just Am to G, then Dm to C. I usually play just the E and B strings. I've often wondered whether this riff was 'borrowed' from Lonely Hunter on the first Ultravox album.

The chorus is a set a straight barre chords: A - E - D, then E - C - A.

As for the solo, it's a series of C chord triads. If you can't make out my fingerings in the song, I do repeat everything close up in the tutorial section.

Finally, there is one chord in the break after the chorus that may be hard to decipher. I played an Am7 on the keyboard track, but on the guitar what I play is slightly different: x50550. (less info)
