Happy Christmas everyone. This Christmas, the 7th since our dearest Ingela went to Heaven will be celebrated the way Ingela liked it. She loved being surrounded by her family and especially her dogs in the warm cosiness of our home in the woods.

I've just listened again to Pippo and still feel that this is absolutely fantastic. Never mind his age or his slightly darker voice, he is still the statesman of tenors. I wish I had a voice like that.

I remember Delia singing this on Irish radio as a child. I now, as then, love it's simplicity and her lovely clear diction.

It's a good job he didn't sing in a higher key because his last high note might have wobbled even more. I think he made the right decision. Anyway what's all this obsession with high notes? Listen to the music, the singer and the words instead.

@MsRuthes I agree with you about Caruso and I,m glad you put Corelli in there at the top after Caruso. The other tenors you mentioned are great as well but don\t forget Di Sefano, in his prime. He was one of the best ever in my opinion. What do you think ?

@ROYCTHOMAS I couldn't agree with you more. I got a bit tired of trying to ignore the scratches. The CDs opened a fabulous new world with the old singers. Thank God for modern technology.

I adore her voice but I feel she is a little tentative. By that I mean there is not much of the "flow" we normally associate with this wonderful singer. Perhaps it's also a little too slow. I prefer the Galli Curci or Deanna Durbin versions

@opalsareforever I think the biggest problem today is that everyone's in a hurry and there's no time for proper training. And everyone want's to get famous overnight. To build a tecnique like Galli-Curci's you need a lot of time, a lot of patience and a hell of a lot of luck. Of course you need a...
