Welcome to the Music Ministry of historic Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina. A mixed SATB choir has served the parish since the mid 19th Century; the church can boast keeping the employ of only four Organist-Choirmasters in the 20th Century. Since 2006, under the direction of Mark Husey, Choral Scholars from the University of South Carolina School of Music have provided musical leadership at four of the five weekend liturgies. They are funded by the generosity of the following benefactors:
Pat and Tom Minor
Mr. John C. Gates (New York)
Friends of Sondra Yates
Dr. Bill & Dianne Neglia
Ms. Jocelyn Clarkson
Patti and Ronald Giomi
Mrs. Carol Kososki
Jack & Connie Seurynck
Drs Frank & Tina Forsthoefel
Michael & Bonnie Younginer
Tax-deductible contributions to the "Saint Peter's Choral Scholar Program" are gratefully received at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, 1529 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Phone 803.779.0036 for more information on giving on your credit or debit card. Thank you, and God bless you!

Founded in 1821 to minister to poor Irish canal laborers, Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina is the Mother Church of all Roman Catholics in the Carolina Midlands. The reverberant Gothic edifice in which we celebrate our liturgies was dedicated January 19, 1909. After several modifications following the Second Vatican Council, the interior was renovated in 2002 to include the addition of a stunning three manual, 38 rank pipe organ: one of the Peragallo Company's flagship instruments and acclaimed as one of the finest unions of organ and room in the state.
These videos are recorded LIVE from our parish Liturgies. Singers are volunteers from the parish and community, choral scholars from the University of South Carolina School of Music, and visiting artists from throughout the United States.
Saint Peter's has served as the host church for the annual Fall Convocation of the Greater Columbia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and frequently hosts touring choral ensembles, which have included the Houston Chamber Choir, the Taylor Festival Singers,Colla Voce, and the Concordia Choir, under the direction of René Clausen.

Thanks for the great insight into you great work (in South Carolina)... My home is Charleston! You seem to have undertaken a great work and your organ is wonderful. I admire your terrific sound with choirs and organ, Superb! I know you must be busy there in St Peter's, but I would like to hear from you about the facade and specifications for the organ to be built in my new home. I do hope you have time. Please accept my most serious
compliments on your terrific work there in St Peters. Hopefully, I shall get up that way sometime soon. Would love to meet you and talk. Your new
fan!!
