Cedar Falls is an award-winning city that takes great pleasure in rolling out the red carpet to visitors. Recent awards include the Iowa Tourism Offices 2005 Community of the Year and 2006 Attraction of the Year for the University Museums. The city's annual Sturgis Falls Celebration was named the state's 2006 Event of the Year and listed among the American Bus Assocation's Top 100 Events of the Year for 2006 and 2007. Downtown Cedar Falls has been nationally recognized as a Great American Main Street and carries the Iowa Department of Cultural Affair's Cultural and Entertainment District designation. And it's no wonder with its charming serpentine streetscape complete with decorative brickwork, antique lampposts and unique shops, boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs. Grab you bike or roller blades and check out the Cedar Valley Recreational Trail System, a network of 80+ miles of paved trails configured in convenient loops offering a variety of experiences. The highly regarded University of Northern Iowa offers many cultural and sporting events, as well.
