About this user

Sandy Nathan has been involved in the arts all her life. Screened as creatively and intellectually gifted as a young child, Sandy has painted, produced sculpture, and written as long as she can remember.

"Creativity is the thread that binds the various parts of my life and gives me meaning. I'm happiest when some inspiration has me by the teeth and I'm creating flat out."

For the past sixteen years, Sandy Nathan has been passionate about writing. She has four published books and has many more drafts of books and articles in process. Her publications have won seventeen national awards in categories ranging from visionary fiction to children's nonfiction.

"The visionary and inspirational aspects of my writing are most important to me. I had my first visionary experiences as a young teenager riding my horse through the redwood forests of California's coastal range. I've continued to have such experiences as an adult. My writing springs from them."

Sandy holds master's degrees in economics and marriage, family & child counseling. She has worked as an economic analyst, negotiation coach, business woman, and horse rancher. Whatever she's doing, Sandy has always kept the door to creative endeavors open. "I work best when I'm using both halves of my brain, the artistic and the logical. When I was a graduate student in economics, for instance, I spent almost equal time producing and showing sculpture."

Sandy lives with her husband on their California ranch. She is the mother of three grown children. She has two grandchildren.

We live on a Peruvian Paso horse ranch. I've ridden most of my life. Currently we're in retirement mode at the ranch with only 5 horses. We stopped breeding them 6 years ago after being a producing horse farm for 20 years. And I love DOGS!
