@mouloudo The only way you can be sure that his head is at rim level is to have the camera at rim level (which it isn't) otherwise it can look like it is at rim height without actually being at rim height (this effect is exploited time and time again) Plus you also have to assume the rim is at 10...

@Mailme81 You might take note of the fact that the camera is at floor level, this means that although his head appears at or even above the rim, it isn't necessarily so, especially when the camera angle is from behind him. A better angle to judge his vert from (but by no means perfect) is from th...

While your vert leaps are extremely impressive, I don't believe you are jumping higher than 38" at best. For a 50" jump at your height the top of your head would need to be level with the rim, and you are at least 12" below this. T-dub is a good example of someone with a 50" running vert. A 40"+ ...

@thesniper321 Another more simple way of seeing that this is nowhere near 49.5 inches is that the distance between the tip of his toe and the top of his knee (at his highest point in the jump) is only slightly shorter than the distance between his toe and the ground. It is highly unlikely that h...

Are you sure that a. he touches the ceiling and b. the ceiling is 12'6"?. Making the assumption that T-Dub has the same reach as me (230cm-I am also 5'9") he is doing a 59.5 inch vertical leap, which (even for T-Dub) isn't possible.

@trentbroadbent you can surely understand why a title saying 'vertical jump 62"' attracts this sort of responce, why not change the title to a 'one step box jump' which is what it really is.

A lot of people exagerate their vertical jump either intentionally or not. I am here to tell you the number of inches they are actually jumping. In order to have a vertical of 40" you need to be off the ground for 0.91seconds. For 50" you need to be off the ground 1.02 seconds.
I use a slow motion camera to see how long they stay off the ground. The frame rate is 30 frames per seconds.
I start counting on the first frame when the person feet leave the floor and count the frame when their foot remakes contact with the floor.
To convert from air time to vertical inches, I use the following calculation
t(s)x t(s) x 9.8 / 8 x 39.37
this simplifies down to
t x t x 48.2 = vertical height (inches)
Having timed your airtime by camera, I can see that you are indeed one of the best, possibly jumping as high as 50" which is a genuine rarity. I still think however that T-Dub still has a slightly higher leap than you, so if you want to lay claim to the Guiness world record, make sure T-Dub also ...
