Thanks for the tutorial. Just remember - the key to winning is to open up a win in an odd row (3 or 5) if you go first and to open up a win in an even row (2, 4 or 6) if you go second. That way, if it comes to a force at the end of the game then you will win.

@ lemonrind - yes, the first player can always force a win if he/she plays perfectly. Unfortunately playing perfectly is very difficult to do. Even when two masters play the one who goes first doesn't always win.

It really is the best game. I used to work with kids and everyone from 2 years-old to adult used to love playing Connect 4.
