Founder of Estes Industries, the model rocket company. I spent my early life on a farm in North West Missori, moved to Fountain Coloroado in 1943 then to Denver in 1946. I graduated from Westminster High School in 1949 then attended Central College in McPherson Kansas for a year where I met my wife Gleda Kane. I ran a small construction business in Denver for several years until in 1958 began my career in model rocketry. Estes Industries moved its operation to Penrose Colorado in 1961. I sold the company in 1969 and now live in Canon City. My interest in rocketry continues and I attend many national events. I am writing a book titled "Dear Mr. Estes" about the founding of the company and the great times we had serving the needs of America's model rocketeers during the "Golden Days of Model Rocketry".
