Pianist N Matthew Siegel, 21, studies with Robert Weirich at UMKC/Conservatory of Music in Kansas City, MO. Siegel won awards in several state and regional competitions. He has taken masterclasses from Nina Drath, Ann Schein, Rebecca Penneys, and Vladimir Feltsman, among others. Siegel performed at the International Institute for Young Musicians Summer Piano Academies (2005-2006, 08) and Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC (2010). He will attend the Pianosummer Festival-Institute at New Paltz, NY this July.
Academically, Siegel maintains a 3.9 GPA entering his senior year and was an active member of Omicron Delta Kappa (2010-11). He also serves the community, presenting a benefit recital last fall with proceeds going to a Kansas City food bank. Interests aside from piano include meteorology, politics, and New Orleans professional athletic franchises.
