About this user
I am a Roman-Rite Catholic from the United States of America. I am also goth, pro-life and a firm intellectual. Regrettably, I seem to have come across quite a bit of hostility here for my varied beliefs and interests. I am a Christian of the Catholic denomination and I love Our Lord as much as my Protestant and Orthodox brethren. As an amateur historian, I know all too well the bitter conflicts that have made Christians denounce each other as false Christians or worse. This is the twenty-first century. The inter-denominational fighting is best left where it should be: in the past. Some viewers may be offended that I have included the National Anthem of Germany on my favorites list. I am an American-born citizen, but I take GREAT pride in my German heritage! For those ignorant people who wish to call those who take pride in our German heritage fascists I have only this to say:
I am also Irish, Russian, Latvian, Scottish, Polish, Romanian, English and French.
The people of Germany have suffered enough.
Secondly, I am an intellectual and would like to say that faith in God or a higher power is not incompatible with science. It is one of the greatest fallacies of today that so many people around the world feel as if there is some manner of absurd "war" between science and religion: You're either for one or the other. I am proof that one can vouch for both. I understand many will not agree with my views and I respect their right to disagree, though I do request that readers not fill my comment box with immature nonsense written in a fit of hysterics. Flaming or racist/bigoted comments will not be tolerated either. I have friends of many races, nationalities and creeds......we may not agree about everything, though we make an honest effort to see things from each other's perspective.
Thirdly, there seems to be an ongoing set of stereotypes claiming that all Americans are ignorant, vulgar, lazy slobs, religious extremists or uncultured, uneducated, inept fools. I do not make assumptions concerning your people and at least I am the first to admit that my birth-nation has done some very distasteful things in our relatively short existence as well as some very honorable things, just as all nations have done.
I hope this will suffice for the present time.
