Valley Village was founded in 1971 by parents with developmentally disabled children. Today, Valley Village provides adults with disabilities like Down syndrome, autism, retardation and cerebral palsy with life-long homes and day programs where they can grow and learn.
Forty years later, Valley Village has grown to meet a need in the community for quality services for people with developmental disabilities. Well known as a model program, Valley Village serves nearly 400 men and women with developmental disabilities.
Valley Village operates 17 family-style homes and three day program facilities in the San Fernando Valley.
The film 'My Life Has Changed' was produced in 1990. 'Meet Shawn and Mary Jo' and the 'Construction of Valley Village Sunland' were produced by White Tree Productions in 2009. The video also features music by friends of Valley Village - Simple Citizens.
