Paul Gonsalves, in his usual spot on the left end of the sax section, has apparently had too much of a good thing and has nodded off with his horn still in his mouth.
Notice his left hand lying in his lap.
He doesn't move for the entire seven minutes of the song.
Jimmy Hamilton had to put down his sax and take Gonsalves' solo on the clarinet.
Also, check out the looks he's getting from Johnny Hodges. Hamilton even tries poking him a few times- but Gonsalves doesn't budge.
Meanwhile, Duke just ignored him.
The professionalism of the band not to overreact to the situation is impressive, but you can still tell that most of them are aware of it and are pissed.
