A better way to kill a lipo without the explosion is to put it in a bucket of salt water and attach leads to the pack for something for the current to run through. This will put a slow discharge on the packs until there is nothing left at all. No explosions at all, perfectly safe to do.

So you spent probably over a grand to make your Baja heavier, more likely to break, and in turn slower. What a waste.
