I may have been at this gig. Don't quite remember - it was definitely in '95. Matt does have one of the very best voices in rock, like what Kerlimann says.

This song is called "Only Waiting" from their album "Under The Pavement". One of the best live bands on the UK Americana scene - as you can plainly hear on some of the Cropredy footage. Utterly wonderful.

I miss Cropredy... a stage you can land a plane on and the best sound of any festival I've ever been to. And now I miss one of my favourite bands (The Travelling Band) as well :( But I'm glad everyone else got to see them - they are fantastic :) and at least we have the vids here to enjoy :)

It was covered by Screaming Jay Hawkins for the Levi's advert when Waits refused them permission to use his version. He sued them for making the cover version without his permission and using it to sell stuff. He really doesn't like his songs being used to sell stuff ;)

@RuffianBB - the groove on the bass and drums is partly why people are saying Led Zep. They had a drummer in John Bonham who was heavily influenced by drummers like Bernard Purdie, and a bass player in John Paul Jones who is basically a world-class session player who can groove with anything. @Bromthebard - the music is still there, just not what the record companies feel comfortable packaging and forcing down our neck. There's a couple of Irish bands (Yngve & The Innocent, John Blek & The Rats) and plenty English bands (Treetop Flyers amongst many others) carrying the torch.
