    Carpenters Close To You

    Why do birds

    Suddenly appear?

    Everytime you are near

    Just like me

    Joni Mitchell-California (BBC)

This is a live performance of Joni Mitchell's hit, California. This was taken on October 9, 1970.

    upster20 upster20 commented:

It doesn't get any better...Joni young, somewhat naive....You can see and hear the raw talent she brings at a time when we all believed we could make a difference and change in the world. Now, years later, I don't know how much change was made, but I do know we're all better people for having Jo...

@LOISSHARRI This song was still being played, fall 78 when I was living at Whitney Hall. I think we were lucky to be at Chico in the 70's

The Best about this performance is they are not polished musicians yet and very raw. Glen, Bernie, Randy, Jackson, and Linda all singing lead. All so young, not knowing how they'll influence there generation....I'm very fortunate I was able to see it happen live...Peace

The beauty of Jackson is that he is always evolving. From the early 70's to getting arrested with him at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in the early eighties( Abalone alliance). Hey Willie, remember me. I was working at Harrahs Tahoe, 1979, I was the waiter you bumped into. You were so cool with the top hat and braided hair. We shared a little smoke together and all was good. I really miss those times when things like that can happen.

Today's music has its place... but those of us who came of age in the 60's and 70's were lucky enough to be exposed to songs that lyrically challenged the norm. Dylan, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, and of course the Byrds- Ballad of Easy Rider is just an example of our era......Right On.....RIP Dennis
