I was here on youtube for much of the DMCA controversy between hoax proponent Jarrah White and Astrobrant2 (real name censored). In fact, I believed in the nonsensical hoax theory for almost three years before I realized how ridiculous it was through the use of some of my good internet friends.
I feel as though at this point in time, the hoax theory is on a lull and almost ALL of the hoax evidence has been disproven so many times that hoaxers don't even talk about it anymore.
