The recent UN YouTube Citizen Ambassadors video contest has failed to achieve what one would have thought it was meant to achieve: to empower real people from around the world with the ability to communicate constructive ideas on how the world can be made a better and safer place. Instead it has managed to further alienate the majority of the kind of people who use YouTube hoping to have an impact upon their world. What does this say about the current mindset of the people who are responsible for insuring that the UN is managed and operated in a manner which truly serves its original purpose? What does this say about the purpose of the UN in a world that is so full of confusion, suspicion, fear and hate?? What can we, the true grassroots social and environmental activists, do to undo all the years of damage to the image and to the integrity of what was once OUR United Nations??? I have some answers; if anyone is really listening...if anyone really cares!

My sincere condolences to the six non-Afghan UN employees whose lives were stolen by people who do not realize what they are doing and how their irreprehensible, senseless and horrific acts of violence do nothing to solve anything at all. And to the families, loved ones, friends, colleagues of these wonderful individuals I extend my deepest, warmest heartfelt sympathy. May the UN bring us even closer to the day when such horrors will no longer cause our children to cry for the mother or father they have lost! PEACE & LOVE to the Peacekeepers of Humanity and may those who do wrong realize it and change. - JP Fenyo.
