There he goes gone again
Same old story's gotta come to an end
Lovin' him was a one way street
But I'm gettin' off where the crossroads meet
It's a quarter moon in a ten cent town
Time for me to lay my heartaches down
Saturday night gonna make myself a name
Take a month of sundays to try and explain.

bill made me create, as a child, a box in my head -- where i was to put all sad and angry thoughts, memories, and feelings. close the lid, turn the key, he said, surely thinking, "don't bother me..." at least once a week, he sat me on the bed, king-sized, encouraging that sucking vacuum of a box in my head.

i opened the box without permission, not long after i last saw you. i am sure he wondered at my incredible recidivism.

everytime i think that fucking box is empty, there is surprise, there is gasping surprise. well, it's empty now of all i know.

there are no explanations needed. no names, no trying -- but god, yes, may this story end?

it's almost as if *you* were (somehow) formative to *my* tastes. thank you.
