A PERSONAL commitment to reporting on human rights and unearthing long-hidden secrets has inspired the work of international author Uki Goñi from the start.
The writer and his latest book "The Real Odessa" have been the object of countless interviews and documentaries by international media such as Discovery Channel, History Channel, the BBC and other television stations in the US, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and Italy.
Originally written in English, "Odessa" has been translated into German, Spanish, Italian, Slovenian and Portuguese.
Apart from his ground-breaking work as a researcher of recent history, Uki has written for various international media such as Time magazine in the United States and the Guardian and Observer newspapers in London.
Uki was born in Washington DC, being raised in the United States, Argentina, Mexico and Ireland. He interrupted his studies at Trinity College, Dublin, at the age of 21, to settle in Buenos Aires, the native city of his parents.
During Argentina's bloody 1976-83 dictatorship working at the Buenos Aires Herald, Uki was one of very few journalists in the country who reported on the thousands of 'disappearances' of young political opponents by the military.
He remains a constant traveller, dividing his time in recent years between Berlin and Buenos Aires, working on documentary projects while preparing a series of essays for a new book on human truth, lies and denial.
