Many common things practised by Muslims are foreign to Muslims in other regions and hence they consider it as Bid`ah, or an innovation.

The Ulama` in this region has for centuries approved such practises as within the Islamic Syari`ah, although the basis may not be agreeable to other Ulama` of other continents and places.

Hence, the practice of reciting Yaasin at graves, kenduri arwah, reading Tahlil and Maulidun Nabi ShalALLAHu`alaihiwasalam are not things which are universally accepted by Muslims. They fall into the category of khilaf, or something that Ulama` disagree with.

Those who follow the opinion that those practices are not Islamic, they should refrain from doing them.

And they must also STOP condemning those who follow the opinion of the Ulama` who consider those practices as acceptable in Islam. - MUIS
