Hard for anyone to judge just how far down that is if they haven't been there. My knees were shaking too. And as I recall, what looks like small green "bushes" near the river below, are actually fair-sized trees.

For the people who say that climbing the arch hurts nothing... Sandstone is very easily eroded. You can easily damage it by simply climbing over it. It not like granite or marble. There are reasons they don't want you messing around with it.
